In the house at Kegelplatz 4 lived the writer and famous collector of fairytales Johann Carl August Musäus. He was called to the court of Weimar as a teacher for the pages where he soon contributed to the literary-sociable round table of Duchess Anna Amalia. His "Folk tales of the Germans" marks the beginning of the German literary fairytale. Since 1984, the visitors can see the memorial for the tropical medicine doctor Albert Schweitzer in his former house.
